Dumble Overdrive Special Reissue Orders Open

Dumble is taking orders for reissues of the Overdrive Special, Tweedle Dee and MegaPLX, as reported on October 1, 2026. The return follows the Dumble website relaunch in late 2024 and the Dumble Preservation Society's appearance at NAMM 2025.

Three rare amplifiers return
- The Overdrive Special is available as a head or combo. Buyers can select covering and grille cloth options, while the amplifier retains the high headroom cleans and punchy drive associated with the design.
- The Tweedle Dee began as Howard Dumble's heavily modified interpretation of a Fender Tweed Deluxe circuit. The changes gave the amplifier greater dynamic control and a tighter low end, and Dumble modified the original for Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
- The MegaPLX is based on one of Dumble's rarest designs. Howard Dumble built only three original MegaPLX amplifiers, and the last amplifier he completed was the MegaPLX 005. An official MegaPLX plugin captured by TONE3000 and NAM2 is also available.
- These amplifiers are exclusive builds rather than production run models. Dumble does not list prices, so prospective buyers must contact the company to place an order.

Why Dumble's return matters to guitar players
The Overdrive Special is Dumble's most recognized amplifier and has been associated with John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joe Bonamassa. These reissues give players a new route to genuine Dumble builds following Howard Dumble's death in 2022. Drew Berlin has said Dumble's closest friends and colleagues were left the brand name, and that building new amplifiers was necessary to prevent the trademark from expiring and becoming available to others. The current amplifiers remain exclusive custom orders rather than mass production models, so their return does not mean broad retail availability.
