Terms of Service — Guitamania
Last updated: 10 Sep 2026
Guitamania is a free guitar reference app. There is no account to create, nothing to buy, and no subscription. These terms are the agreement between you and the developer of Guitamania covering your use of the app and of guitamania.com.
By installing or using Guitamania you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
The licence you get
You may install and use Guitamania on devices you own or control, for personal or professional music-making — including teaching, practice and paid performance. There is no separate commercial licence to buy.
You may not:
- copy, sell, rent or redistribute the app itself, or offer it for download anywhere other than the App Store and Google Play;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law of your country gives you that right regardless of what this page says;
- extract the app's chord, scale and arpeggio data in bulk to build or train a competing product.
Using the diagrams the app shows — in a lesson, a video, a chart written out for a student — is exactly what the app is for and needs no permission.
No accounts, no payment
The app has no sign-in, no in-app purchases and no ads. If you are ever asked to pay for Guitamania or to sign in to it, you are not using our app.
Your data
Guitamania has no accounts and collects no personal information. The app counts anonymous usage actions and receives crash reports; the microphone is used for tuning only, and audio never leaves your device. What is sent and what is not is listed in full in the Privacy Policy — that page, not this one, is the source of truth on data.
The content in the app
Chords, scales, triads and arpeggios are facts of music theory and belong to nobody. The app's own material — its name, logo, the diagrams as drawn, text, layout and code — belongs to the developer, and ordinary copyright rules apply to it.
Accuracy — read this one
Guitamania is a reference tool, not a teacher and not an authority. Fingerings, note spellings and tunings are shown as they are commonly taught, and reasonable alternatives exist for many of them. The Tuner depends on your device's microphone and on the room you are in; it is not a laboratory instrument and it can be wrong. Do not rely on the app where being wrong would matter — an exam, a recording session, a set-up on an instrument you cannot easily re-tune. Check it against your own ears.
Volume is yours to set. The Metronome and the sample playback can be loud, especially through headphones; the app cannot measure how loud your device actually is.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. We do not promise that it is free of errors, that it will run on every device, or that it will keep working — the app may change, features may be removed, and it may stop being published.
Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app: lost time, lost work, a missed performance, or damage to equipment or hearing from a volume you chose.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. And nothing in these terms affects consumer rights you hold under the law of the country you live in, where that law says those rights cannot be waived.
The app stores
Guitamania is distributed by Apple and by Google. Their terms apply to the download alongside these terms, and each store's refund and removal rules are theirs, not ours.
For the iOS app specifically: this agreement is between you and the developer, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for Guitamania. If the app fails to conform to any warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price — which is zero; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance and consumer protection claims, or third-party claims that the app infringes intellectual property rights. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Changes
These terms may change when the app changes — if accounts, purchases or new services are ever added, this page is updated on that release date. The date at the top says which version you are reading. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
Ending
You can end this agreement at any time by deleting the app. We may stop publishing or supporting Guitamania at any time.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of Vietnam, where the developer is based, without displacing the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
