EverTune Bridges: Tuning Stability, Cost and Tradeoffs
EverTune bridges use constant tension to keep each guitar string locked to its set pitch, even as pick attack or environmental changes affect the instrument. The benefit is stable tuning and consistent notes, while the tradeoffs include altered bending behavior, a demanding installation, added weight and higher cost.

How constant tension holds pitch
Each string has its own spring and lever mechanism, which responds when string tension changes. By correcting those changes, the bridge keeps the pitch at the start of a note aligned with its sustain. It can also return the string to pitch after large bends.
That correction creates a slight lag before a bend starts raising the pitch. When you begin bending, the mechanism initially works to preserve the set tension. You can adjust each string so bends and vibrato feel close to normal, or increase correction when tuning stability is the priority. Producers can configure strings so finger pressure and attempted bends do not pull notes or chords out of tune.

Setup cost, weight and retuning limits
The initial setup can be finicky, although restringing is straightforward when you keep the same tuning. The bridge costs $350, and professional installation may bring the total to about twice that amount. Installation requires extensive hole cutting, so fitting one is a permanent commitment for many guitars.
The bridge weighs about 1.28 pounds. After accounting for the wood removed when cutting the holes, it adds roughly half a pound overall. That difference is more noticeable on a lighter guitar. The bridge can also change resonance, although players disagree about whether the result sounds brighter or darker.
String feel may become stiffer after installation. In practical terms, 9s can feel like 10s, while 10s can feel like 11s. Lighter strings may compensate for that change.
During a gig, you can retune the low string at the headstock when a song requires another tuning. Once retuned this way, that string loses the pitch stability provided by EverTune.
