John Mayer Announces 2027 Sphere Residency With Solo, Band, Trio Sets
John Mayer will stage a six show residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas in April 2027. Each concert will feature three distinct sets: Mayer solo, Mayer with a full band, and the John Mayer Trio.
Six dates and three configurations
The shows are scheduled for April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17, and 18, 2027. During the solo portion, Mayer will perform mainly on acoustic guitar, with occasional appearances on piano and electric guitar.
Bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Steve Jordan will join Mayer for the Trio sets. These will be the group’s first live performances together since 2023.
The presale begins Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. PT and 1 p.m. ET, with registration available through Mayer’s website. The general sale begins Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. PT and 1 p.m. ET.
Why the residency matters to guitar players
For guitar players, the format puts Mayer’s acoustic and electric work inside one production. The solo set centers on playing without a backing group, while the full band and blues rock Trio sets place his guitar within two different ensemble settings.
The run will also be Mayer’s first Sphere residency under his own name. He previously played the venue with Dead & Company during the band’s 2024 and 2025 residencies.
The announcement follows continued solo activity during 2026. Mayer played international dates and intimate U.S. club shows, then appeared at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Austin on Sept. 26 and 27.
